   Proposal Description:
   This project aims to retrospectively compare the psychiatric, neurobehavioral,  and biological (imaging and pathological) markers between 3 neuropathological  syndromes. Participants recognized as having Alzheimer?s disease,  frontotemporal dementia, and chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) will be  examined in this project.  Logistic regression models will be utilized to  identify which factors predict membership in each neuropathological syndrome.  History of depression, substance abuse, traumatic brain injury, measures of  frontal lobe functioning, and cerebrospinal fluid tau levels are hypothesized  to discriminate participants recognized as having CTE versus Alzheimer?s  disease at autopsy. I do not expect any psychiatric, neurobehavioral, or  biological marker to discriminate participants with CTE from frontotemporal  dementia. As a result, this project would be one of the first studies to  retrospectively characterize individuals with CTE using a multimodal approach  consisting of background, neurobehavioral, and biological measures.
